Model Narrative

The T.R. Paul Academy of Arts and Knowledge educational model offers a classical education that exceeds the boundaries of Core Knowledge and draws strongly upon the arts to enrich the learning experience. All students gain knowledge and skills in the fields of visual arts, music and drama as they proceed through the TPAAK educational program.

Together, a longer school year and longer school days provide the necessary time (25% more than traditional schools) for this uniquely rich program. Students are grouped according to their appropriate instructional levels to maximize their learning experience.

The core program includes two hours per day of literacy; one hour of math; one hour of science; ninety minutes of Paragon social studies; as well as two class periods that alternate among drama, art, music, physical education, and Spanish. Add to this an instructional approach that embraces multiple intelligences and develops personalized student achievement plans for all students.

The media that make the difference at TPAAK include the arts, but also involve integration of technology into the classroom. In upper grade levels, Smartboards are used for interactive instruction, and throughout the school you’ll find one computer for every four students.

Compare with other local schools.
